Welcoming Our Fall 2026 Interns

Every season we welcome a new group of interns to Omnium who quickly become a hands-on extension of what we do every day. This fall, we are excited to introduce four new additions to our team: Charles Chen, Annika Salz, David Chen, and Samantha Lo. Spanning fields from Mathematical Physics to Linguistics and Cognitive Science, this group brings sharp problem-solving skills and a genuine curiosity for how math applies to the real world.

Here is a quick look at each of our Fall 2026 interns and what brought them to Omnium:

Charles Chen

Growing up in Lexington, Massachusetts, Charles developed an early interest in the logic of mathematics and how its principles apply to everyday life. He recently graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in Math-Computer Science, focusing heavily on theoretical and applied math.

Charles was drawn to Omnium because of our math-centered approach to business problems. During his internship, he is eager to absorb as much as possible; both through formal guidance and hands-on work. Outside of math, Charles loves strategy games, particularly Magic: The Gathering, and enjoys challenges centered around chance and probability.

Samantha Lo

Raised in Orange County, California, Samantha is currently studying Applied Mathematics and Cognitive Science at UC San Diego, expecting to graduate in June 2027. Her love for math started in elementary school, leading her back to the major in college after realizing how much she missed structured problem-solving.

Samantha was drawn to Omnium for the opportunity to apply mathematical principles to complex, real-world data. During her internship, she is looking forward to seeing how analytical modeling translates into day-to-day business strategy. When she isn't studying or working, Samantha loves spending her free time hiking outdoors or tackling creative arts and crafts projects.

Annika Salz

Raised in San Diego, Annika graduated from UCLA in June 2026 with a degree in Mathematics and Linguistics. Encouraged by great teachers early on, she fell in love with math and later discovered a natural overlap with linguistics, specifically in using logic and abstract theory to explain patterns in data.

Omnium’s heavy math background felt like a natural fit for Annika, offering a clear way to translate abstract concepts into practical business application. During her time here, she is looking forward to building her technical data skills and learning more about the CPG industry. Outside of work, the former UCLA cross-country and track athlete still runs daily, is training for a marathon, and is passionate about improving math education for young students.

David Chen

Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Kingston, Ontario, David is in his final year of Mathematical Physics at the University of Waterloo. His interest in data science was sparked by the movie Moneyball, combining his love for sports and math into side projects analyzing baseball and basketball data; one of which he is presenting at a sports statistics conference in Vancouver.

At Omnium, David is getting right to work as part of the client team for Ruiz Foods. He is excited to experience life as a full-time data scientist while building both his technical and consulting skills. Outside of work, David is deeply involved in charity and social justice causes, follows nearly every sport, and unwinds by playing classical piano and blues guitar.
